Summary
Alectos Therapeutics is seeking a Research Associate or Research Scientist to join our biology team, supporting preclinical small-molecule drug discovery programs for neurodegenerative and inflammatory diseases. The successful candidate will play an integral role in our efforts to identify and assess new targets and develop and run biochemical and cell-based assays, generating high-quality, reproducible data that drives project decisions.
This role requires a strong technical foundation, the ability to design and execute complex experiments independently, and a collaborative, detail-oriented approach. You will also act as a technical resource for the team, mentoring junior staff, sharing expertise and adapting flexibly to evolving research priorities to support collective project success.
Qualifications
- MSc in Biochemistry, Cell Biology, or a related discipline, with 2–5 years of research experience (experienced BSc candidates also considered)
- Experience developing and optimizing in vitro and cell-based assays, including ELISA and functional cellular assays
- Experience with mammalian cell culture, flow cytometry, immunocytochemistry, and high-content imaging
- CRISPR gene-editing and gene expression analysis experience an asset
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal, technical, and communication skills
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement new assays to support medicinal chemistry programs
- Evaluate drug candidates through in vitro and cell-based experiments
- Collect, organize, and analyze experimental data accurately
- Prepare data summaries and technical reports for internal decision-making
- Provide scientific insight, troubleshoot technical challenges, and interpret findings
- Support team goals and serve as a technical resource within the team
- Promote continuous improvement and collaboration in experimental approaches and team processes
- Participate in group and company meetings, contributing to research discussions and idea generation
