We are currently looking for an experienced Geomatics Technician to join our team in Grande Prairie. We welcome applicants who live near, or are able to work from, any of our locations across Western Canada. Explore Midwest for a map of our offices.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Working under the direct supervision of the Grande Prairie Office Manager, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

Work closely with our team on setting up jobs, processing field data, monitoring job progress, as well as survey plan checking and computations.

Liaise closely with project management to effectively provide clients with excellent service.

Perform other related duties as assigned by the Project Manager, Land Surveyor, or Office Manager.

Follow all Midwest health and safety protocols and is committed to ongoing learning in this area.
Preference will be given to candidates who hold a degree or diploma in Geomatics and/or Survey Technology from a recognized technical school. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
The successful candidate will have:

5+ years of experience as a Geomatics Technician, or related position, within the upstream oil and gas industry.

Demonstrated working knowledge of private and Crown land oil & gas surveys.

Understanding of survey methodologies, land surveying acts, and regulations as they apply to the practice of Land Surveying.

A working knowledge of how GPS and total stations are used in the collection of survey data.

Proficient in the use of survey software, including MicroSurvey.

Proficient in the use of Microsoft applications, such as word and excel.

As an asset, a degree or diploma in Geomatics from a recognized technical school.

As an asset, but not required, experience with processing LiDAR and 3D Terrestrial Scan data.

As an asset, but not required, experience with grade plan design and checking.
