Summary
CBO Earthworks is seeking a skilled and dependable Class 1 Driver to support our construction operations by hauling gravel, aggregates, and other materials safely and efficiently. This position requires an experienced driver who is comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment and familiar with a range of gravel truck configurations, including tandem trucks, quad trailers, tridem trailer end dumps, and live bottoms.
The ideal candidate is safety-focused, professional, mechanically aware, and able to work effectively with dispatch, supervisors, and field crews. Familiarity with Samsara and the use of mobile apps for driver workflow, communication, and compliance is an important part of this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate Class 1 trucks and trailer combinations in support of construction and hauling operations.
- Haul gravel, aggregates, asphalt-related materials, and other construction materials as assigned.
- Confidently operate and work with various gravel truck configurations, including tandem trucks, quad trailers, tridem trailer end dumps, and live bottoms.
- Conduct pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections to ensure equipment is safe and roadworthy.
- Complete driver logs, inspection records, and required company documentation accurately and on time.
- Use Samsara and related mobile apps for logs, communication, driver workflow, and fleet compliance requirements.
- Follow dispatch instructions and coordinate effectively with supervisors and site personnel to meet job demands and delivery timelines.
- Adhere to company policies, OH&S requirements, NSC compliance expectations, and safe driving practices at all times.
- Maintain cleanliness of assigned equipment and promptly report defects, maintenance needs, or safety concerns.
- Operate professionally and courteously when interacting with clients, coworkers, and the public.
Qualifications
- Valid Class 1 driver’s license in good standing.
- Air Brake Endorsement required.
- Experience with gravel hauling and construction-related trucking is strongly preferred.
- Must be familiar with most common gravel truck configurations, including tridem trailer end dumps and live bottoms.
- Experience using Samsara, ELD systems, or mobile driver apps is preferred.
- Defensive Driving training is an asset.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to changing job conditions.
- Must be punctual, reliable, and safety-minded.
