Qualifications – Northern Ontario Healthcare Facility
- Current registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO) required
Minimum 2 years of recent MLT experience required
- Experience working in a hospital laboratory setting strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of laboratory safety standards and quality assurance procedures
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in diagnostic testing and reporting
- Ability to work in a fast-paced acute care environment
- Start Date: ASAP
- End Date: 3-month contract with potential extension
- Hours: Full-time
- Pay Rate: $75/hour

Responsibilities:
Medical Laboratory Technologists are responsible for performing diagnostic testing and laboratory procedures in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Perform a variety of laboratory tests in areas such as chemistry, hematology, transfusion medicine, and microbiology
- Analyze, interpret, and report test results accurately and within required turnaround times
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments
- Follow all quality control and quality assurance procedures
- Ensure compliance with CMLTO standards and hospital laboratory policies
- Maintain accurate documentation and patient records within the laboratory information system
- Participate in specimen collection, handling, and processing as required
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and escalate concerns appropriately
- Adhere to infection prevention and control protocols at all times
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support patient care
Note: Duties may vary slightly depending on departmental needs and shift assignment.
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of hospital laboratory experience required
- Experience across multiple lab disciplines considered an asset
- Familiarity with hospital LIS systems considered an asset
- Strong competency in diagnostic testing procedures and laboratory instrumentation
