What You’ll Do
- Finishing work and fine details, rough and trim
- Installation, doors, trim, moldings, baseboards and hardware
- Repairs to wooden structures of all sorts
- Drywall repairs, mudding, sanding, taping and finishing
- Brush and roller painting (could include walls, ceilings, trim)
- Ceiling installation, knockdown and texturing
- Insulation and vapour barrier installation
- Cabinetry (removal, repair, reinstallation)
- Flooring installation and repairs
- Framing
What You Bring
- 5+ years doing interior carpentry and interior home repairs
- Experience with installing flooring (wood, tile, laminate)
- Ability to complete all rebuild needed in a single location
- Leadership to guide helpers and train less experienced workers
- Refined skills with various in-home renovation repairs/restoration vs new build
- Restoration/rebuild focus (flood/fire damage)
- Attention to detail, passion for quality and pride in the work you do
- Tools and the skills to use them
- Strong people and communication skills
- A safety mindset
- Willingness to cross train into other departments
- Tech-savvy (comfortable using apps and software)
- Valid drivers license
- Ability to pass a criminal record check
- Ability to communicate in English, both written and spoken

Disasters can strike at any time so a rotating schedule of 24/7 after hours on-call work is a requirement. Meaning you’ll work regular weekday hours and participate in a rotating after-hours on-call schedule.

- This position involves entering homes that have experienced flood or fire damage and completing all necessary repairs — including drywall repair, painting, rough/trim/finish carpentry, and more. Essentially, the role requires someone who can restore a home from start to finish. Please describe why you believe you would be the best fit for this job:
- Do you have a JM or Red Seal Carpentry ticket or any formal training in Carpentry. Please describe.
- If your résumé doesn’t clearly outline them, please list your interior carpentry skills — starting with the skill you are most proficient in and ending with the one you are least proficient in (example: cabinetry, flooring).
- This position requires frequent heavy lifting, as well as continuous physical activity such as standing, crouching, bending, reaching, and kneeling. Are you able to perform this level of physical work on a consistent basis?
- Are you able to work a rotating on call schedule, responding to emergency calls after regular hours? This on call work is in addition to your scheduled daytime hours, and premium pay as well as overtime will be provided.
- Do you have experience with installing wood, tile and laminate flooring? If so, how many years?
Experience:
- drywall repairs and painting: 1 year (preferred)
- interior carpentry repairs/restoration: 5 years (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- Canadian Driver's License (preferred)
