Position Summary
The BOH Cook/Chef is responsible for preparing and executing menu items to Dear Saigon’s standards. This role includes food preparation, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, following standardized recipes (SOPs), and ensuring consistent quality in every dish served.
Proficiency in Vietnamese and English is required.
Key Responsibilities
● Prepare and cook menu items according to standardized recipes and presentation
guidelines
● Execute dishes with consistency, accuracy, and attention to detail
● Assist with preparation of ingredients including cutting, marinating, portioning, and
stocking
● Ensure proper cooking techniques are followed for all menu items (e.g., broths, proteins,
noodles, rice dishes)
● Maintain speed and efficiency during peak service times
Kitchen Operations
● Follow all SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and recipe cards precisely
● Ensure all food is prepared and stored according to food safety standards
● Monitor food quality, freshness, and portion control
● Assist with inventory management, stock rotation (FIFO), and restocking supplies
● Minimize waste and support cost control efforts
Cleanliness & Food Safety
● Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen at all times
● Follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards
● Clean workstations, equipment, and kitchen areas throughout and after shifts
● Properly store food and label items according to guidelines
● Comply with health and safety regulations
Team Collaboration
● Work closely with FOH staff to ensure timely and accurate order execution
● Communicate effectively with team members during service
● Support fellow kitchen staff during busy periods
● Contribute to a positive, respectful, and team-oriented kitchen culture
Opening & Closing Duties
● Assist with kitchen setup before service (prep, station setup)
● Complete closing tasks including cleaning, storage, and equipment shutdown
● Ensure kitchen is fully stocked and ready for next shift
Qualifications & Requirements
● Previous kitchen or cooking experience preferred
● Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
● Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes accurately
● Good time management and multitasking skills
● Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks
● Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented
Pay: $19.00-$25.00 per hour
