Canadian Alliance Terminals is a 3rd party logistics warehouse with a portfolio of customers weighted towards consumer-packaged goods.
Working in CATs Warehouse Operations Group under the Director of Operations with a dotted line to the General Manager, the Technology Operations Supervisor ensures the full adoption of, and the proper utilization of CAT’s current and future technology tools, including Extensiv, Easy Metrics, Opendock, Yard Management System, iWarehouse, and MS Teams.
The objective of this role is to troubleshoot, coach, manage, and collaborate on discipline with the Operations Supervisor to ensure Warehouse Associates execute the technology workflow to its fullest extent with precision and consistency.
The ultimate goal is to improve customer satisfaction with Perfect Order Performance. POP is defined as to flawlessly fulfilling a customer order correctly with perfect allocated inventory and shipping the product on time. Lastly the Technology Operations Supervisor will apply their considerable strength in data analytics to improve operational efficiency.
What You’ll be Responsible For in this Role
1) Be a constant presence on the warehouse floor to provide troubleshooting, training, and coaching to warehouse staff in CAT’s technology, ensuring uniform and consistent usage. Be a superuser of Extensiv, and perform relocations and assist with inventory control as required, with a priority for on-time shipments.
2) Overseeing the e-commerce division’s operations, by liaising directly with clients, and problem solving with internal stakeholders to make sure all the operational processes and technology works, and jive together.
3) Hone, evolve, and document the technology workflows, staying on the leading edge of best practices provided by the technology suppliers, and by other facilities.
4) Optimize the integration of practical integration of CAT’s connected technologies such as WMS, Opendock, YMS, iWarehouse, TMS, MS Teams, etc. to decouple from paper, while ensuring no orders are misplaced, and all required documents are collected.
5) In collaboration with the Operations Supervisor hire, evaluate, lead, discipline, and support warehouse associates on the basis of maintaining a workforce that has fully adopted and is optimally proficient on the execution of CAT’s technologies.
6) Apply data analytics to uncover improper / inconsistent usage, non-compliance, and failure to adopt CAT’s technologies, and issue corrective actions.
7) Apply data analytics to benchmark and make improvements to warehouse operations metrics such as error rate, inventory accuracy, unloading/picking/putaway/load-out speed, cost by customer, driver check-in/check-out turnaround times, etc.
8) Apply data analytics towards forecasting / planning to optimize labor deployment, and minimize labor / overtime costs.
9) Researching existing technologies as well as developing in-house technologies, and launching them to solve problems and improve warehouse operations.
10) Collaboratively share your analytical knowledge with the Operations Supervisor in support of the day-to-day business flows.
11) Upkeep accurate data in iWarehouse, to ensure that the credentials of warehouse associates are ‘fit for duty’, and equipment are ‘serviceable’. Participate in the validation and procurement of equipment repairs & maintenance.
The successful candidate will possess these qualifications:
1) Thorough knowledge of the 3rd party logistics warehousing process, and the transportation & logistics document flow.
2) Previous successful experience in rolling out major system(s) (such as ERP, or WMS) in a medium sized organization.
3) Advanced IT-support capabilities and calm under pressure for troubleshooting and problem solving of critical systems under tight time constraints and high stakes.
4) Proven track record of being a trainer, coach, and influencer in the context of achieving full adoption of company-wide transformational initiatives.
5) Formal education in, or equivalent work experience in a data analytics or financial analytics role in a medium sized organization.
6) Experience and proficiency leading a team at ten or more people, preferably in the warehousing or manufacturing space.
7) Held position(s) responsible and accountable for driving improvement to operational, financial, or sales KPIs, and achieving annual targets.
8) Well developed good judgement, confidence, tact, and sense in conducting public relations with customers, presenting in video conferences, and delivering in-person tours.
9) Expert Knowledge of Excel, Power BI and Word
