We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented BIM Coordinator to join our team. The BIM Coordinator will be responsible for managing Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes across various projects, ensuring the accuracy and consistency of models, facilitating collaboration between disciplines, supporting the estimation process, and creating and managing custom Revit families. This role is critical in delivering high-quality, coordinated designs and ensuring adherence to project standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Model Management:
- Manage, and maintain 3D BIM models for various projects across disciplines (architectural, structural, MEP, etc.).
- Ensure all BIM models align with the project requirements, including standards, specifications, and contractual obligations.
- Perform clash detection and resolve coordination issues using tools like Navisworks, Revit, or similar software.
- BIM Automation
- Develop and implement BIM automation workflows using tools like Dynamo
- Create scripts and tools to automate repetitive tasks, improve modeling efficiency, and enhance data extraction processes.
- Integrate automation solutions into BIM workflows to streamline coordination, clash detection, and reporting.
- Collaboration and Coordination:
- Act as the main point of contact for BIM-related queries and ensure effective communication between project stakeholders.
- Collaborate with external consultants, contractors, and suppliers to integrate their models and data into the project.
- Estimation Support:
- Extract accurate quantities and data from BIM models to support cost estimation.
- Ensure models are aligned with budgetary requirements.
- Identify discrepancies in quantities or scope between the model and design documents and resolve them with the project team.
- Provide visual aids and reports derived from BIM models to assist in understanding project scope and cost impacts.
- Revit Families Creation and Management:
- Develop and manage custom Revit families to meet project-specific requirements and ensure alignment with company standards.
- Maintain an organized Revit family library, ensuring all families are parameterized, efficient, and optimized for use in BIM workflows.
- Ensure that all families comply with industry standards and project-specific BIM Execution Plans (BEPs).
- Train team members on how to effectively use and customize Revit families.
- Troubleshoot and refine existing families to enhance functionality and usability.
- Standards and Compliance:
- Enforce BIM Execution Plans (BEPs) and project-specific BIM protocols.
- Ensure compliance with company-specific BIM standards.
- Review and validate BIM deliverables from internal and external teams.
- Training and Support:
- Troubleshoot technical issues related to BIM tools and processes.
- Data and Documentation:
- Manage and document model data, ensuring it is up-to-date, accurate, and accessible to the team.
- Generate reports, schedules, and quantities from the BIM models for design, estimation, and construction purposes.
- Support the integration of BIM models into construction management and facility management systems.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in a similar role within the AEC industry.
- Demonstrated experience in BIM automation, including scripting with Dynamo, Python, or Grasshopper.
- Hands-on experience with BIM software such as Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, or similar tools.
- Knowledge of estimation workflows, quantity takeoffs, and cost planning using BIM models.
- Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
- Familiarity with Dynamo, scripting, or other automation tools is a MUST.
- Understanding of construction processes, building systems, estimation, and documentation practices.
