Food Truck Operator – Smash Burgers & Fries
Position Summary
The Food Truck Operator is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality smash burgers, fries, and related menu items while delivering fast, friendly service in a high-volume food truck environment. This role requires strong grill skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a compact kitchen during busy service periods. The Food Truck Operator ensures food quality, speed of service, and an exceptional guest experience.
Key Responsibilities
Smash Burger & Fry Preparation
- Prepare and cook smash burgers on a flat-top grill using proper smash and searing techniques.
- Toast buns, melt cheese, and assemble burgers according to standardized recipes.
- Prepare and season fries to ensure consistent texture, flavor, and presentation.
- Maintain proper cook times and temperatures for all food items.
- Ensure burgers and fries are served hot, fresh, and consistent during peak service.
Speed & Service Execution
- Work quickly and efficiently during high-volume rush periods.
- Coordinate orders to ensure burgers, fries, and add-ons are completed together.
- Maintain an organized grill and fry station to maximize speed and efficiency.
Customer Service
- Provide friendly and engaging service to guests.
- Take orders accurately and process payments through POS systems.
- Answer menu questions and provide recommendations.
Food Truck Operations
- Set up grill, fryers, prep stations, and service window before opening.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace in a compact food truck kitchen.
- Break down and clean all equipment at the end of service.
Food Safety & Quality Control
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
- Monitor food temperatures and storage procedures.
- Maintain proper hygiene and safe food handling practices.
Inventory & Prep
- Assist with ingredient prep including portioning burger patties, slicing toppings, and preparing sauces.
- Monitor inventory levels for beef, buns, potatoes, cheese, and other ingredients.
- Help reduce waste and maintain proper stock rotation.
Qualifications
- Food Safe Certified
- 5+ years of restaurant cooking experience
- Experience cooking on a flat-top grill or burger station preferred.
- Ability to work quickly in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Strong attention to consistency and food quality.
- Team-oriented with excellent communication skills.
- Customer service experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for long periods in a hot kitchen environment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working in a tight food truck space.
Schedule
- Flexible availability required, including evenings, weekends, and seasonal peak periods.

Pay: $50,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
