Pizza Maker
Job Summary:
The Pizza Maker plays a key role in delivering a great dining experience by preparing high‑quality pizzas and related menu items with care and consistency. This position also contributes to a welcoming environment by providing friendly, efficient customer service and supporting smooth day‑to‑day operations at Di’s Pizza Pies (STC).
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked pizza workstation with all necessary ingredients and equipment.
- Prepare and portion pizza dough according to established recipes and fermentation timelines.
- Prepare ingredients (e.g., chop vegetables, grate cheese, slice meats) for pizza assembly.
- Assemble pizzas by adding sauces, cheeses, and toppings based on standard recipes or custom orders.
- Cook pizzas using ovens or designated equipment, monitoring cooking times and adjusting temperature or position as needed to ensure even baking and consistent quality.
- Ensure proper presentation of finished pizzas before serving or packaging.
- Store all ingredients, prepared dough, and other food items properly to maintain freshness and prevent spoilage.
- Monitor pizza-related inventory (e.g., dough, cheese, toppings) and report shortages to the chef or kitchen supervisor in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with the chef and culinary team to develop and test new pizza recipes and creative menu items.
- Follow all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations, including end-of-day clean-up and proper storage of unused items.
- Work safely in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and all relevant kitchen safety regulations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.
- Culinary diploma or certificate from a recognized institution preferred.
- Proven experience specifically as a pizza maker in a commercial kitchen or pizzeria.
- Skilled in dough handling, stretching, and baking techniques.
- Strong knowledge of pizza-making equipment, including ovens, peels, and mixers.
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently without compromising quality.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and proper food handling practices.
- Strong attention to detail and consistency in execution.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and in a team environment.
Working Conditions & Environment:
- Inside kitchen
- Exposure to hot and cold temperatures from ovens and freezers.
- Noisy and fast-paced environment.
- Standing and moving for extended periods while preparing food.
- Ability to work safely in accordance with company standards and health code regulations.
- Handle kitchen equipment and machinery safely, preventing injury from cuts or burns.
- Ability to work as part of a team, following all health and safety guidelines.
Compensation:
- Base salary plus tips as part of the overall compensation package.
Reports To: General Manager or Supervisor
Hours:
Must be available to work holidays, weekends and occasional extended hours up to 2 AM to 3AM.
Must be able to work safely in production areas and be able to lift at least 50lbs/23kg.

Pay: From $17.60 per hour
