About Us
Charlottetown Blvd Child Care Centre is a non-profit, government-licensed child care organization dedicated to providing high-quality care and enriching experiences for children and families. We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) to join our School Age Program as a medical leave replacement.
Position Summary
This is a medical leave coverage position beginning August 4, 2026. The successful candidate will work full-time during the month of August in our summer program and transition to a 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. school-age after-school schedule during the school year. There is also the possibility of additional hours based on program needs, staff absences, professional development coverage, and school closure days.
The RECE will be responsible for creating and implementing engaging, age-appropriate programming while ensuring the safety, well-being, and positive development of children in our care.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, implement, and evaluate developmentally appropriate activities and programs for school-age children.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment that encourages learning, exploration, and positive social interactions.
- Supervise children during indoor and outdoor play, transitions, and special activities.
- Maintain compliance with all licensing requirements, centre policies, and health and safety standards.
- Observe and document children's participation and interests as required.
- Foster positive relationships with children, families, colleagues, and community partners.
- Use positive guidance techniques to support children's social and emotional development.
- Participate in team meetings, professional development opportunities, and centre initiatives.
Qualifications
- Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
- Previous experience working in a licensed child care setting, preferably with school-age children.
- Strong program planning, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
Requirements
- Current RECE registration and membership in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
- Valid Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification.
- Current Vulnerable Sector Check/Criminal Reference Check.
- Up-to-date immunization records.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.
Schedule
- August 4, 2026 – August 31, 2026: Full-time summer program hours.
- September 2026 onward: Monday to Friday, 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
- Additional hours may be available during school holidays, PA days, staff absences, and as operational needs require.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $28.00 per hour
