Children: 7-year-old & 1-year-old
Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday (40 guaranteed hours per week)
Start Date: August 6, 2026
A warm, creative single-parent family relocating from New York City to Vancouver is seeking a proactive nanny to become a steady, trusted presence in the lives of her two children as they transition to a new city.
With one child starting at a new school and another entering toddlerhood, the family is looking for someone who will help the children feel at home, support them as they build a sense of community, and discover what Vancouver has to offer.
The 7-year-old is a bright, kind-hearted girl who loves being outdoors, playing games, and including others in her play. She has a soft spot for animals and is eager to help when given the opportunity. She connects with people who take the time to get to know her and make her feel like a valued part of the family.
The 1-year-old is a curious, independent explorer who loves figuring out how things work. He can happily concentrate on emptying drawers, investigating compartments, and climbing everything in reach. He follows a predictable daily routine, with solid naps that allow for afternoons filled with outdoor play and exploration.
The dedicated mom is hands-on despite a demanding career, making time to connect and give her children her undivided attention. She is intentional about raising her children with strong values and creating a calm, secure home where they can feel grounded through big transitions. She is looking forward to her family spending more time in nature, exploring their new surroundings, and introducing the children to camping and new outdoor adventures.
The ideal nanny is nurturing, proactive, and dependable. They feel comfortable stepping into a new role and helping the family find their rhythm as they settle into life in Vancouver. They are organized, confident, and able to bring calm to a busy household. They communicate openly and bring a thoughtful, collaborative approach to their work.
The role has an early afternoon start and evening finish. The nanny will spend the afternoon caring for the 1-year-old, with time for outdoor play, walks, and exploration before walking to the 7-year-old’s school for pickup at 4:30 pm. Mom is usually present in the evenings, and she and the nanny will work together so both children have their needs met and enjoy meaningful one-on-one time with Mom. An au pair will provide morning and late-evening coverage, giving the family flexibility when Mom’s work schedule extends beyond the nanny’s hours.
Responsibilities include preparing meals and snacks for the children, children's laundry, keeping their spaces organized, and helping with light household tasks. A nanny who takes initiative in helping the children build connections in their new community, such as helping arrange playdates, will be an asset in this role.
This is an opportunity to become an important part of a kind, respectful family during an exciting new chapter. The right nanny will be valued as a professional, encouraged to contribute ideas, and treated as a trusted member of the team. We are looking for a long-term relationship built on mutual respect, open communication, and appreciation.
