Overview:
Fireweed Camps Ltd is seeking qualified and experienced Catering Managers to support wildfire and natural hazard operations. This critical role will require overseeing food service activities in remote locations, managing kitchen teams, and ensuring safe and efficient food preparation under demanding conditions. The successful candidate will play a vital role in sustaining emergency personnel with quality meals during high-pressure situations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and supervise a team of 10–15 kitchen staff to ensure timely delivery of high-quality meals.
- On site training of employees while adhering to company policies and procedures.
- Manage Janitorial and Laundry personnel and ensure all contract requirements are being met or exceeded.
- Plan menus, oversee food preparation, and maintain inventory of supplies in alignment with operational needs.
- Adhere strictly to safety and sanitation regulations.
- Ensure team compliance with WorkSafe BC guidelines and standards.
- Collaborate effectively with our clients to ensure contract requirements are being met or exceeded.
- Provide leadership and maintain morale during extended assignments in challenging environments.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Food Safe Level 2 certification (mandatory).
- Basic First Aid training (mandatory).
- Completion of a Transportation Endorsement course approved by WorkSafe BC (mandatory).
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for commuting to remote areas (mandatory).
- Willingness to temporarily relocate and work in remote regions of British Columbia.
- Previous experience in the food service industry.
- Kitchen supervisory experience managing teams of 10–15 employees is an asset.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances.
Contract Terms:
- Duration: Yearly contract during wildfire and natural hazard seasons with potential for advancement.
