General Description:
The General Accountant and Payroll Associate is responsible and accountable for all payroll functions related to Finance. In addition, the ideal candidate is well-versed in all accounting procedures and has a natural aptitude for numbers.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Specifically, this position entails the following duties but is not limited to:
- All Payroll functions and reporting including year end reconciliation with WSIB, CRA etc.
- Entering journal entries at month end
- Reconcile the Balance sheet accounts assigned to the position
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies
- Understanding of accounts payable and receivable processes
- Support audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams for financial reporting and operational efficiency
- Other related duties as assigned and needed
- Other finance duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices (GAAP)
- Proficient in accounting software
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
Working Conditions:
- This position is based in an office environment.
- The standard workweek for this position is 40 hours.
- The standard business hours for this position is Monday to Thursday 7:30 to 4:30, and Friday 7:30 to 1:30
- Overtime and hours worked outside of the standard work schedule may be required
