Future Hope Academy is a Private Christian Secondary School with an elite basketball preparatory program, offering Ontario curriculum from grade 7 to 12, committed to academic and athletic excellence, spiritual growth, and character development. POSITION SUMMARY:
The Bible & Christian Studies Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, academically sound instruction in biblical studies and Christian worldview education. The teacher will help students develop biblical literacy, ethical reasoning, and an understanding of Christian faith traditions while fostering respectful discussion and critical thinking.
Experience teaching Social Sciences is a strong asset.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Instruction & Curriculum
- Teach Ontario curriculum in Bible and Christian Studies courses to students of Grades 7–12.
- Develop and implement engaging, biblically sound lesson plans aligned with the ministry/school's curriculum.
- Integrate faith-based principles with contemporary issues and student life
- Foster spiritual growth through classroom instruction, prayer, discipleship, and mentorship.
- Integrate a Christian worldview into teaching and student interactions.
- Skill in designing assessments aligned with the Ontario Curriculum and Growing Success
- Knowledge of the seven fundamental principles of assessment.
- Strong organizational and lesson planning skills
- Experience in course development with course binder.
Student Development
- Encourage students to explore biblical texts, theology, ethics, and worldview questions
- Promote respectful dialogue and critical thinking in classroom discussions
- Support students’ moral, spiritual, and personal development in alignment with school values
- Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners
- Model Christian character and servant leadership both inside and outside the classroom.
Assessment & Reporting
- Design and evaluate assignments, tests, projects, and presentations
- Assess student learning and provide timely feedback on assignments, projects, and examinations.
- Report student attendance and study progress on school system on daily basis
- Communicate student progress with parents as needed
Classroom Management
- Maintain a respectful, inclusive, and safe learning environment
- Enforce school policies consistently and fairly
- Address behavioral concerns in collaboration with administration
School Involvement
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events
- Contribute to chapel services, assemblies, or faith-based programming (if applicable)
- Collaborate with colleagues to support cross-curricular initiatives
- Interaction with students, parents, and staff in a faith-based educational community
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A personal and growing faith in Jesus Christ with a lifestyle consistent with biblical principles.
- Agreement with the school's Statement of Faith and mission.
- Bachelor’s degree in theology, religious studies, education, or related field (required)
- Teaching certification is preferred
- Experience teaching Bible/Christian Studies or humanities subjects at secondary school
- Familiarity with Christian education settings
- Commitment to fostering respectful faith-based learning
- Ability to engage students from diverse Christian backgrounds
- A pastoral reference
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS)
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Full-time or part-time depending on the applicant’s qualification
- Classroom-based teaching environment
- Occasional participation in extracurricular or school-wide events
Pay: $26.00-$32.00 per hour
