Western Canada's largest mobile tire storage company is looking for an experienced, safety-focused 5-Ton Truck Driver Trainer to join our team.
Tire Chalet was created in the spring of 2015 and is a family-run business. By delivering exceptional service and growing one account at a time, Tire Chalet has become the largest seasonal tire storage provider in Western Canada, with continued expansion planned across Canada.
As a 5-Ton Truck Driver Trainer, you will play a key role in developing skilled, professional, and safety-conscious drivers. You will be responsible for onboarding new drivers, conducting classroom and hands-on training, evaluating driving performance, coaching safe work practices, and helping reduce preventable incidents. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys mentoring others while setting the standard for safety and professionalism.
Responsibilities
- Train new 5-ton truck drivers through classroom, yard, and on-road instruction
- Conduct road tests, ride-alongs, and practical driver evaluations
- Coach drivers on defensive driving, backing techniques, parking lot maneuvering, and lift gate operation
- Train employees on company SOPs, customer service standards, scanner use, and delivery procedures
- Teach proper load securement, vehicle inspections, and National Safety Code compliance
- Identify performance gaps and provide constructive coaching and follow-up training
- Complete driver assessments, training records, and documentation accurately
- Assist with accident investigations, corrective action plans, and refresher training
- Lead by example while promoting a strong safety culture
- Support management with seasonal onboarding and continuous driver development
Qualifications
- Valid driver's license in good standing (based on Province of Residence) with a clean driver's abstract
- No serious traffic violations or at-fault accidents within the last 5 years
- No DWI/DUI within the last 10 years
- Minimum 3 years of commercial 5-ton truck driving experience operating lift gates
- Previous experience training, coaching, mentoring, or supervising commercial drivers is preferred
- Strong knowledge of defensive driving, load securement, vehicle inspections, and safe driving practices
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
- Professional, dependable, and safety-oriented
- Physically fit with the ability to regularly lift 70–90 lbs
- Willing to work 40 hours per week with overtime as required
- Willing to work Saturdays during peak seasons
- Experience working with tires is considered an asset
- Must be at least 21 years of age
