Job Summary:
The Service Supervisor is responsible for the supervision and coordination of the Service Department operations. The Service Supervisor often works directly with clients, ensuring customer satisfaction through effective communication and quality service.
Role Responsibilities:
- Ensure employees comply with the local Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations.
- Ensure proper use of equipment, protective devices, or clothing as required by the employer.
- Inform employees of workplace health and safety hazards known to the supervisor.
- Provide written instructions on safety measures and procedures as prescribed by regulations.
- Participate in skill and safety training programs.
- Communicate effectively with customers and vendors.
- Coordinate job-specific training with the Plant/Service Manager and EH&S Coordinator.
- Conduct monthly 5S and safety inspections.
- Maintain equipment and work areas in a safe and orderly condition.
- Implement practices for environmental protection.
- Assign tasks based on work orders and schedules to meet daily priorities and deadlines.
- Manage resources such as manpower, materials, and equipment.
- Investigate machine or equipment malfunctions and determine repair needs.
- Requisition materials to meet production goals.
- Ensure quality control by inspecting parts, work in progress, and finished products for defects.
- Coordinate corrections for defects to ensure products meet specifications before delivery.
Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of trade practices and welding techniques for various alloys.
- Proficient in using tools and equipment for repairing parts and equipment.
- Ability to interpret drawings and specifications to determine dimensions, tolerances, and layouts.
- Skilled in maintaining tools, equipment, and welding devices.
- Familiarity with the local Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations, and workplace safety hazards.
- Experience completing onboarding, inspections, equipment logs, and accident reports.
- Knowledge of company policies and procedures for manufacturing employees.
- Approachable and empathetic leader with strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to follow precise standards, work instructions, and interpret data, welding, and design drawings.
- Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in basic math and computer literacy.
- Knowledge of material safety data sheets and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information application
Physical Requirements:
- Range or Motion: ability to climb, walk, squat, kneel and perform above shoulder height activity.
- Work in various weld positions (flat and vertical planes, overhead).
- Lift from floor to waist 50 lbs.
- Lift from waist to shoulder up to 30 lbs.
- Lift above shoulder height up to 10 lbs.
- Work in various temperatures.
- Ability to work with or around chemicals.
