Williams and White is a custom contract manufacturer specializing in precision machining and fabrication. We are looking for a Machine Shop Project Manager to take ownership of customer jobs from intake through to delivery.
This role sits at the center of operations coordinating between customers, production, vendors to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to specification. If you understand machining, can read drawings, and know how to keep jobs moving in a fast-paced shop, this will feel like home.
Key Responsibilities
Project & Job Management
- Manage projects from Purchase order through to final delivery
- Develop and execute manufacturing plans for machining and fabrication jobs
- Monitor job progress, timelines, and budgets to ensure on-time delivery
Production Coordination
- Work closely with shop floor teams to prioritize and schedule work
- Identify and resolve bottlenecks to keep production moving efficiently
- Ensure drawings, materials, and processes are aligned before release
Purchasing & Supply Chain
- Source and procure materials and subcontract services based on BOMs
- Follow up with vendors to ensure on-time delivery of components
- Maintain inventory awareness for ongoing and upcoming jobs
Customer & Vendor Communication
- Act as the main point of contact for customers on active projects
- Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to resolve issues quickly
- Communicate timelines, updates, and challenges clearly and professionally
Quality & Documentation
- Review job packages and ensure all required documentation is complete
- Support quality processes by coordinating inspections and addressing issues
- Track and follow up on NCRs related to assigned projects as needed
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 5+ years experience in machining and/or fabrication environments
- Experience in project management within a machine shop or manufacturing setting
- Strong understanding of machining processes (milling, turning, grinding, etc.)
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
- Hands-on familiarity with metalworking processes and materials
Technical Skills:
- Experience with ERP systems (JobBOSS or similar preferred)
- BOM and Shop drawing preparation
- SolidWorks or similar CAD experience
- Strong computer skills (MS Office / Google Workspace)
- Comfortable with measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.)
