Avana is hiring Construction Labourers to support residential construction projects across our communities. This hands-on role is responsible for performing a variety of on-site manual labour tasks and supporting the day-to-day operations of our worksites. We are looking for reliable and safety-conscious individuals who are either currently registered in, or have completed, their First Year Carpenter Apprenticeship. This role is ideal for someone pursuing a career in the trades and looking to gain hands-on experience in a supportive and safety-focused environment.
On a per-project basis, this role will report to the Construction Lead and Site Superintendent, as applicable. Organizationally, this role will report to the Operations Manager.
Key Responsibilities:

Clean job sites of all construction materials and refuse at various stages of the builds.
- Tidy and clean houses under construction at various stages of the builds.
- Construct and place temporary sidewalks.
- Construct and install temporary handrails and stairs as requested.
- Install appliances.
- Install lock sets.
- Deliver materials on an as-needed basis with a truck and/or trailer.
- General maintenance on existing properties as needed.
- Drywall checkout.
- Support the Carpenters with any additional tasks as needed.
- Other duties as directed by the Construction Lead or Site Superintendent.
Skills and Qualifications:

Demonstrated knowledge of basic carpentry tools, equipment, and construction techniques.

Physically capable of performing manual labour in a construction environment, including lifting up to 50 lbs and working outdoors in all weather conditions throughout the year.

Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Strong time management skills with the ability to self-schedule and prioritize work effectively.

Strong attention to detail and positive interpersonal skills.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a strong commitment to quality and excellence.

Takes pride in producing high-quality work.

Flexibility to work overtime as required.

Must have a working cell phone.

Must provide own hand tools and CSA-approved steel-toed boots.

Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence with a satisfactory driver’s abstract.

Satisfactory criminal record check required upon hire.

Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
