Overview
We are seeking a skilled Cable Technician to join our team, responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting various telecommunications and networking systems. This role offers an opportunity to work on diverse projects involving Ethernet, computer networking, telecommunication systems, and low voltage wiring. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, mechanical aptitude, and experience working with hand tools and electrical components. Duties
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair Ethernet cabling and computer networking systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Work with telecommunication systems including telephony and Cisco routers to configure and maintain network connectivity.
- Perform mechanical tasks related to cable routing, conduit installation, and equipment mounting using various hand tools.
- Conduct electrical work involving low voltage wiring and connections in accordance with safety standards.
- Assist in the setup and maintenance of telecommunication infrastructure, including testing signal integrity and diagnosing issues.
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently while adhering to safety protocols.
- Document work performed, including system configurations and repair logs for future reference.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of Ethernet cabling, computer networking principles, and telecommunication systems.
- Mechanical knowledge related to cable management, conduit installation, and equipment mounting.
- Proficiency with hand tools such as wire strippers, crimpers, screwdrivers, and cable testers.
- Experience working with telephony systems and Cisco routers for network configuration and troubleshooting.
- Understanding of electrical principles applicable to low voltage wiring installations.
- Familiarity with telecommunication standards, safety procedures, and best practices in cable installation.
- Ability to read technical diagrams, schematics, and network layouts.
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
