YOUR FOCUS
Reporting to the Manager Technology Enhanced Learning, the Resource Administrator/Education Coordinator (Media Lab) is accountable for the daily operations of both the Media Lab and the IMIL Lab, the day-to-day supervision of part-time and student staff, and serving as the primary instructional and technical resource for multimedia development and delivery across all service tiers.
Consult with faculty on the design and feasibility of student multimedia assignments and recommend tools and workflows aligned with course objectives.
Provide instruction on multimedia software, 3D printers, podcasting equipment, and large-format printers to faculty, staff, and students.
Advise on best practices for multimedia production across service tiers, tailoring guidance to project needs and technical complexity.
Maintain current knowledge of educational applications of multimedia technology to ensure instruction reflects current standards and practices.
Deliver printing, 3D printing, and podcasting services in support of academic activities.
Provide walk-up counter service for multimedia production and technical support.
Deliver professional, courteous service while managing multiple client requests simultaneously.
Advise on technical issues, equipment selection, software challenges, and project workflows.
Train users on multimedia software, 3D printers, podcasting equipment, and large-format printers.
Resolve urgent technical issues and troubleshoot equipment and software challenges in the lab.
Respond to emergency technical issues using strong knowledge of multimedia hardware and software.
Support planning, training, and scheduling of student staff.
Collaborate with ITS Technical Services to maintain awareness of hardware and software upgrades and address escalated issues.
Assist with equipment upgrades and purchases to maintain adequate resources based on demand.
Ensure all equipment remains clean, functional, and ready for use, and coordinate repairs with ITS Technical Services.
Coordinate with technology vendors on new products, updates, and maintenance requirements.
Monitor developments in multimedia technologies, standards, and best practices across relevant fields.
Maintain ongoing learning to support evolving multimedia and information technology environments.
Manage cash sales, chargebacks, and invoices, and complete documentation for billing and record keeping.
Prepare and submit monthly financial statements for materials and services.
Track client activity and service needs to monitor trends and resource requirements.
Maintain logs of hardware, software, program versions, and licensing across lab environments.
Monitor and maintain inventory of supplies, including printing materials and 3D printing consumables.
WHAT YOU BRING
Bachelor's degree or a Community College diploma in a related field (e.g., multimedia studies, visual arts, instructional design, or applied arts and technology).
Minimum 2 years' experience working with and supporting multimedia, audio-visual, and digital technology in a service environment.
Additional Strengths
Demonstrated excellence in customer service, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills.
Experience with 3D printing, podcasting production, and large-format printing would be an asset.
Proven ability to supervise and guide others, including student staff.
Ability to communicate effectively and make technical concepts understandable to a wide range of users, including those with limited technical experience.
Proficiency with Macintosh and Windows computers and related hardware, including working/teaching knowledge of: Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign); Microsoft Office; presentation software (PowerPoint, Keynote); and video/audio editing software (Premiere, Final Cut Pro, iMovie, and podcasting tools)
Familiar with Apple and Windows software and devices.
Ability to handle clients with courtesy, calmness, tact, and diplomacy, including in high-pressure or time-sensitive situations.
Ability to work effectively as a member of a small team and support colleagues across related service units.
Ability to manage multiple clients and tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to monitor and track service levels and identify trends to inform staffing and resource decisions.
