About Atomic Hockey Academy
Atomic Hockey Academy serves Grade 4–7 student-athletes through a partnership with SCIDES and School District No. 58.
Our mission is simple:

Students participate in a unique academy model that combines:

The academy operates within the Atomic Hockey training facility in Langley, creating a dynamic environment where learning extends beyond the traditional classroom.
A Small-Group Learning Environment
Students are divided into two age-appropriate cohorts:
Grade 4–5 Group
Grade 6–7 Group
Each cohort consists of approximately 16–20 students.
Students participate in a half-day academic model, with one group engaged in classroom learning while the other participates in hockey and athletic programming before switching later in the day.
This structure allows for meaningful relationships, individualized support, and a positive learning environment.
Position Responsibilities
The successful candidate will support students academically, socially, and emotionally while working closely with the classroom teacher.
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting students during classroom instruction and independent work
- Assisting students with organization, task completion, and learning strategies
- Providing individualized and small-group support
- Helping implement accommodations and learning plans as directed by the teacher
- Supporting student engagement and participation
- Assisting with classroom organization and preparation of learning materials
- Supervising students during transitions and academy activities
- Building positive relationships with students and families
- Supporting social-emotional development and positive behaviour strategies
- Contributing to a safe, inclusive, and welcoming learning environment
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Education Assistant certification, Child and Youth Care training, educational support training, or equivalent experience
- Experience working with elementary-aged students
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with students
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
- A positive, flexible, and growth-oriented mindset
Preferred Qualifications
Preference may be given to candidates with:
- Experience supporting students with diverse learning needs
- Experience working in schools or educational settings
- Experience supporting social-emotional learning
- Experience working with athletes or youth development programs
- Knowledge of inclusive education practices
- First Aid certification
Hockey experience is not required.
