The candidate will start in the shipping area and will have the opportunity to be trained in other areas around the shop floor.
The General Labourer will work closely with Quality, Operations and the Production Planner to determine shipping requirements. To accomplish this, the individual will require effective communication skills to ensure that shipment of product is completed in a timely manner and runs as smoothly as possible.
- Manage and verify outgoing deliveries of all products including coordinating courier companies and other carriers
- Prepare for shipment including but not limited to packaging, measuring, weighing and labelling finished product and building, loading and wrapping skids as well as prepare and verify necessary documentation
- Greet delivery drivers in a positive, professional manner
- Ability to work directly with hourly shipping and receiving employees to ensure products are being received and shipped in the most efficient and timely manner
- Direct communication with Company contacts and demonstrates the ability to respond quickly and efficiently to changing customer requirements
- Must be familiar and be able to work with computer systems
- Monitoring and supporting general activities in the shipping departments as required
- Ability to act independently with little direction and suggest continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensures the shipping and receiving areas are maintained in a clean and organized fashion at all times
- Working within the parameters of Company policies and procedures
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Highschool Diploma, GED or equivalent experience
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to multi-task
- Strong interpersonal, and effective leadership & coaching skills
- Strong organizational and attention to detail
- Ability to comfortably lift a minimum of 50lbs
Physical Demands:
While performing the responsibilities of this role, the employee is required to be able to lift up to and including 50lbs, sit and/or stand for extended periods of time and reach with arms/hands. Walking, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling and moving items is required.
