Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Diesel Engine Rebuild Technician to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience rebuilding, diagnosing, and repairing Cummins and Detroit Diesel engines, including the Detroit DD16, DD15, X15, ISX, and other heavy-duty diesel platforms.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on a variety of on-highway trucks, vocational fleets, and heavy equipment. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring engine reliability, performance, and safety through precision diagnostics, complete overhauls, and advanced troubleshooting.
Responsibilities
- Disassemble, inspect, diagnose, and rebuild heavy-duty diesel engines, including Cummins and Detroit Diesel platforms.
- Perform in-frame and out-of-frame overhauls on DD16, DD15, X15, ISX, and related engines.
- Measure and inspect engine components to manufacturer specifications using precision measuring tools.
- Diagnose engine, fuel, cooling, lubrication, emissions, and aftertreatment system failures.
- Use OEM diagnostic software and electronic service tools to troubleshoot fault codes and performance issues.
- Repair and replace cylinder heads, injectors, turbos, camshafts, liners, pistons, bearings, and other major engine components.
- Conduct engine testing and verification procedures following rebuild completion.
Qualifications
- Proven experience rebuilding and repairing heavy-duty diesel engines.
- Strong knowledge of Cummins and Detroit Diesel engine platforms, including DD16, DD15, X15, ISX, and related models.
- Experience with engine diagnostics, fault-code analysis, and electronic engine controls.
- Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and shop equipment.
- Ability to read service manuals, schematics, and technical repair documentation.
- Experience with emissions systems including DPF, SCR, and EGR systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Pay: $20.00-$45.00 per hour
