Job Summary:
This position is responsible for electrical wiring, control panel assembly, and electrical testing of HVAC equipment such as air conditioners, heat pumps, chillers, and dehumidifiers. The role ensures all electrical systems are installed safely, function correctly, and meet design specifications and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Electrical Wiring & Assembly
- Perform internal wiring of HVAC units as per electrical schematics.
- Route and terminate cables for compressors, motors, fans, sensors, and controllers.
- Install electrical components such as contactors, relays, overloads, capacitors, transformers, and terminal blocks.
- Ensure proper cable dressing, ferruling, and labeling.
2. Control Panel Building
- Assemble and wire electrical control panels based on GA drawings and wiring diagrams.
- Mount components including PLCs (if applicable), VFDs, MCBs, MCCBs, and HMI interfaces.
- Perform panel layout, drilling, cutting, and DIN rail mounting.
- Ensure compliance with panel standards (UL, CSA, IEC as applicable).
3. Testing & Commissioning
- Conduct continuity, insulation resistance (megger), and functional tests.
- Verify correct phase sequence, voltage levels, and control logic.
- Support initial power-up and functional testing of HVAC units.
- Troubleshoot and rectify wiring or component issues.
4. Drawing Interpretation & Documentation
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and BOMs.
- Follow work instructions and engineering specifications.
- Record test results and maintain quality documentation.
5. Tools & Equipment Handling
- Use tools such as multimeters, clamp meters, crimping tools, wire strippers, and drilling machines.
- Handle testing instruments and panel fabrication tools safely and effectively.
6. Safety & Compliance
- Follow electrical safety standards and procedures.
- Use appropriate PPE (gloves, insulated tools, safety shoes, etc.).
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies and electrical codes.
7. Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure zero-defect wiring and neat panel assembly.
- Participate in quality checks and process improvements.
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of electrical wiring and control panel assembly.
- Ability to read and understand electrical drawings and schematics.
- Familiarity with HVAC electrical components and systems.
- Knowledge of AC/DC circuits, motors, and control systems.
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and workmanship quality.
Experience:
- 2–5 years in electrical wiring or panel building, preferably in HVAC or industrial manufacturing.
- Experience with control panels for air conditioners, heat pumps, or refrigeration systems is an advantage.
