Why Fraser Health?:
The Division of Cardiac Surgery is seeking a permanent full time track Cardiac Surgeon to join our group of seven surgeons. The ideal candidate will have 1 or 2 additional years of clinical fellowship training following their residency in areas such as aortic surgery, transcatheter valve therapy, minimally invasive valve surgery, heart failure, complex heart rhythm devices or critical care.
The Royal Columbian Hospital is a full-service, adult non-transplant cardiac surgery center serving a population of almost 2 million. Our service performs over 950 open heart procedures annually, including coronary artery bypass grafting, valve repair and replacement, complex aortic surgery, TEVAR and Ross procedures.
We also perform tachy, brady and biventricular cardiac electrical device implants. We are equal partners in the TAVR, TEER and TMVR programs. Three of our members are part of the extracorporeal life support program and one member practices critical care medicine.
The Royal Columbian Hospital is a major teaching site for the University of British Columbia cardiac surgery residency and undergraduate medical education programs. The $1.3 billion Royal Columbian Hospital redevelopment will see cardiac surgery infrastructure and operating capacity increase by at least 50% with a projected opening in September 2026.
