The Industrial Cleaner will focus primarily on detailed cleaning of rail cars (VIA Budd Cars) as well as maintaining the overall cleanliness of the shop and facilities. This role is well-suited for someone who takes pride in maintaining clean, safe environments and can work efficiently in a fast-paced, schedule-driven setting.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform detailed cleaning of rail cars, including vacuuming, wiping surfaces, sanitizing high-touch areas, and cleaning windows using appropriate chemicals
- Clean and maintain facility areas including washrooms, floors, and common areas (sweeping, mopping, disinfecting, dusting, garbage removal)
- Ensure all cleaning tasks are completed to a high standard and within required timelines
- Follow all safety procedures and properly handle cleaning products and equipment
- Support general housekeeping across the shop to maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Work efficiently during regular shifts, with flexibility for occasional extended hours when rail cars return
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in industrial, commercial, or facility cleaning considered an asset
- Comfortable performing physically active work (standing, bending, repetitive tasks)
- Ability to work in a small team environment (approximately 12 staff on site)
- Reliable and able to work in a schedule-driven environment
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
