We are seeking an organized and proactive Human Resources & Safety Coordinator to oversee HR functions, employee relations, recruitment, training, and workplace health and safety initiatives across our locations.
Position Summary
The Human Resources & Safety Coordinator will play a critical role in supporting our employees, maintaining compliance with employment and workplace safety regulations, and fostering a positive company culture. This position will be responsible for both day-to-day HR administration and the development, implementation, and monitoring of workplace safety programs.
Key Responsibilities
Human Resources
Manage recruitment, onboarding, and employee orientation programs
Coordinate job postings, interviews, reference checks, and hiring processes
Maintain employee personnel records and HR documentation
Assist with performance management and employee evaluations
Support employee relations and conflict resolution
Administer vacation tracking, attendance, and employee leave programs
Ensure compliance with employment standards and company policies
Coordinate employee engagement and retention initiatives
Assist management with organizational planning and workforce development
Health & Safety
Develop, implement, and maintain workplace safety policies and procedures
Conduct regular safety inspections and audits
Ensure compliance with Ontario health and safety legislation
Coordinate workplace safety training and certifications
Manage incident investigations and corrective action plans
Track workplace injuries, claims, and return-to-work programs
Maintain equipment safety records and training documentation
Lead Joint Health & Safety Committee activities where applicable
Promote a strong culture of safety across all departments
Compliance & Training
Monitor compliance with employment legislation and workplace regulations
Coordinate mandatory employee training programs
Maintain HR and safety files for audits and inspections
Assist with policy development and updates
Support WSIB administration and reporting
Qualifications
Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Occupational Health & Safety, Business Administration, or related field
CHRP, CHRL, or Health & Safety designation considered an asset
3+ years of HR and/or workplace safety experience
Strong knowledge of Ontario Employment Standards Act (ESA) and Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA)
Experience with recruiting, onboarding, and employee relations
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HR management systems
Valid driver's licence and ability to travel occasionally between company locations
Preferred Experience
Transportation, trucking, trailer, fleet, or industrial industry experience
Multi-location workforce management
WSIB claims management
COR™ Safety Certification programs
Health & Safety training and compliance programs
Skilled trades or shop environment experience

Pay: $55,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
