Bayers Westwood Family Resource Centre is a non- profit organization since 1991.We are the largest Public Housing community in the city with 368 homes. We provide programs and services to enhance the health and well- being of families.
The Parenting Journey is a home visitation program that provides support for families experiencing social, emotional, and familial challenges. Parenting Journey Home Visitors work collaboratively with families to build meaningful helping relationships while collectively identifying strengths, resources, challenges, and priorities , using a holistic framework. parenting Journey strives to understand, respect, and honour culture, and identity of the children, youth and families we served.
Duties
- Conduct in-home visits to families with young children from birth to 18 years( up to 19th birthday), focusing on Child/ youth growth development, Parent- child relationship, family life management ect.
- Provide education on child health, safety, nutrition, and childhood development
- Assist families in creating and implementing personalized plans to meet their goals
- Offer resources and referrals for community services such as healthcare, childcare, and social support programs
- Document visit outcomes, progress notes, and service plans accurately and timely
- Support families through challenges such as stress management, behavioral concerns, or other life circumstances
- Collaborate with community partners and agencies to coordinate comprehensive support for families Experience
- Diploma or degree in Social sciences, Human Services or Early Childhood education or equivalent experience.
- 2 Years experience providing social support services to children/ youth and families in a diverse community -based setting
- A valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle
- Full competency with technology and Microsoft Office
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and trust with diverse families
- Cultural aware
- Compassionate, patient, and non-judgmental approach to family support
- Ability to work independently while maintaining effective communication with team members
- Knowledge of child development principles and community resources is a plusThis role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on families' lives by fostering healthy growth environments for children. - Complete criminal record check, child abuse registry check , and vulnerable sector check.
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain .
- Other languages an asset
- Participating in reflective supervision and practice
- Hours- Full-time- Monday- Friday 8:30- 4:30pm, Occasional evenings, and weekends
- Salary $46,000 plus benefits.
