The Role
As an Experienced Renovation Carpenter, you will help transform residential and select commercial spaces from demolition through finishing. You must be comfortable working independently, collaborating with the team and representing Peak Performance professionally in clients’ homes.
Responsibilities
- Perform carpentry and general renovation work on residential and commercial properties, including demolition, framing, drywall and finishing carpentry.
- Measure, cut, shape and install materials accurately using appropriate hand and power tools.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and instructions to understand project requirements.
- Complete interior finishes, fixtures, cabinets, counters and custom woodworking with close attention to detail.
- Assist with material and labour estimates for project changes when required.
- Identify site issues, recommend practical solutions and communicate clearly with the project team.
- Ensure work complies with project specifications, local building codes and safety standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area at all times.
- Support and guide less-experienced team members as responsibilities grow.
Qualifications
- Minimum five years of hands-on carpentry experience, preferably in residential renovations.
- Red Seal Carpenter certification is strongly preferred; a Skilled Trade Certificate or fourth-year apprenticeship will also be considered.
- Strong knowledge of carpentry methods, construction materials, tools and renovation best practices.
- Demonstrated experience in finishing carpentry and confidence working across multiple stages of a renovation.
- Ability to read blueprints and complete work accurately to specification.
- Excellent attention to detail, judgment and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and contribute positively as part of a team.
- Professional communication skills and respect for clients, coworkers and occupied homes.
- Valid driver’s licence and a vehicle capable of moving materials to and from job sites; a truck or van is preferred.
- A solid complement of personal hand and power tools appropriate for professional renovation work.
- Physical ability to perform renovation work, including lifting materials and working from ladders or scaffolding.
- English fluency is required.
Compensation and Benefits
- $36.00 per hour to start, with the potential to grow to $42.00 per hour once performance and skills are proven.
