As a member, you’ll help influence meaningful change in Saskatchewan’s health care system, grow as a leader within the physician community, and contribute to the strength and advocacy efforts of your association. Your insights and expertise will help modernize the Physician Payment Schedule and ensure it reflects the evolving needs of both patients and physicians.
You will be supported throughout the process by a dedicated team of SMA staff, who provide analysis, costing, and strategic insight to inform committee decisions.
What We Do:
The Tariff Committee (TC) studies and makes recommendations regarding:

The addition of new fee codes to the Physician Payment Schedule

Amendments to existing fee codes.
This is your opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the Physician Payment Schedule through collaboration with colleagues across the province and engagement with the Medical Services Branch of the Ministry of Health.

Responsibilities:

Review, deliberate, and provide strategic insights on new fee code and amendment requests from SMA Sections and the Ministry.

Communicate with SMA Sections regarding their requests or Ministry-initiated changes, as requested by the Chair.

Advocate on behalf of your colleagues in joint meetings with the Ministry,
-
Serve a three-year term, with a minimum of eight meetings per year (mostly virtual), targeting April and October Payment Schedule releases.
