Experienced Structured Cabling Technician
We are seeking skilled technicians to join our team to ensure the successful installation, termination, finishing, testing and labelling of structured cabling jobs across various customer locations. We aim to provide consistent, year-round work and to continue to expand and grow.
The primary role of the technician will be to execute cabling projects that meet or exceed industry standards and adhere to safety regulations. Clean, professional installations are very important.
Applicants with experience with access control and camera systems will be preferred. Any experience with other low voltage systems such as telecommunications, automated entrances, intercoms, networking, etc. may also be considered.
The duties of the job are running of copper data cabling and fiber in a fast and efficient manner, the completion and finishing installation of components accurately and neatly. The ideal candidate will have experience in network rack planning, installation, and finishing.
Work is on-site with team members. There may be periods of individual or solo work. The applicant must be able to work efficiently on their own and as part of a team. Work sites are various locations throughout Calgary with sustained work on single sites - there is very limited requirement to travel between locations on a daily basis.
This position requires a detail-oriented individual capable of working in dynamic environments, as part of a team, and communicating and collaborating closely with the team to deliver high-quality work.
This role involves evaluating routes and working under deadlines while maintaining high levels of accuracy and productivity. The ideal candidate will possess strong experience and knowledge, superior communication skills, and a proactive attitude towards problem-solving. A commitment to working in a team-oriented environment while also being capable of working independently is absolutely essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, route, and secure Cat5e, Cat6, and fiber optic cabling using J-hooks and cable tray
- Terminate and test cables (jacks, keystones, faceplates, etc.)
- Install Network infrastructure equipment (patch panels, racks, cable management, etc.)
- Read and interpret drawings and site plans as well as verbal instruction
- Perform testing and troubleshooting using appropriate tools
- Maintain clean cable management and adhere to client's labeling standards
- Work in construction, multi-family condominium, and light industrial environments
- Communicate clearly and professionally with management, clients, site contacts, and team members
- Ability to communicate and document site details and Maintain accurate documentation of installations, tools, and equipment used
- Certifications in industry products is an asset
Requirements
- Proven experience in large structured cabling
- Strong knowledge of industry standards such as TIA/EIA and BICSI and best practices
- Experience terminating Cat6 and working with patch panels/racks
- Experience handling and installing Fiber cabling
- Ability to read and understand drawings and layouts
- Comfortable working on ladders and in ceiling spaces
- Strong attention to detail and workmanship quality
- Physical ability to lift heavy equipment and work at height

Pay: From $32.80 per hour
