Bayfield Treatment Centers, a private agency that provides support to children and youth, is seeking applications for full-time and part-time Youth Support Workers in our Treatment Homes in the Prince Edward County, and Trenton areas.
We are looking for hard-working, dedicated individuals with a flexible schedule to join our excellent team of direct care staff. A college diploma in Child and Youth Work, Social Services or other related field, will be considered an asset, however, we are also accepting applications for a Child and Youth Worker Apprenticeship. Position Summary: This role provides for the daily care and supervision of Bayfield's youth through the use of various relationship building, mentoring, teaching, conflict resolution, and crisis management skills.
Key Skills & Responsibilities

Promote and maintain a therapeutic environment for a diverse population of children and youth experiencing a range of social, behavioural, and mental health difficulties

Assist youth in achieving their Plan of Care goals

Coordinate and participate in recreational and activities for the youth

Develop therapeutic relationships with youth, using various teaching, mentoring, and counseling skills

Support a team approach to sharing program activities, daily care responsibilities, and problem solving
-
Follow behavioural support and intervention guidelines including crisis intervention

Complete administrative tasks related to client progress reports, incident reports, and behaviour tracking

Ability to communicate well in both oral and written form

High degree of energy

Flexibility with the ability to work a variety of shifts

Ability to effectively communicate with youth and adapt to their specific needs

Ability to develop and maintain respectful and cooperative working relationship children/youth, families, colleagues, communities, and placing agencies

Strong problem-solving and crisis management skills
Qualifications

A College diploma in the Social Service Worker, Developmental Service Worker or Child and Youth Worker, or other related field of study is required

Applicants with relevant life experience and willingness to upgrade their education will be considered for the apprenticeship program

A valid Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening

Current Immunization Record and TB test

Insurable driving record with a minimum "Class G" Driver's License

First Aid and CPR certification

Youth Worker positions with a 3-step pay grid from $22.76/hour to $23.74/hour (inclusive of the $3/hour Permanent Wage Enhancement provided by the Ontario Government).
