VGS Group is a growing Eastern Ontario company specializing in commercial, industrial, and residential overhead door solutions. As part of our continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Overhead Door Technician to join our team.
This position is ideal for a skilled technician with experience in commercial overhead door installation, service, maintenance, and troubleshooting. The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently, interacting professionally with customers, and maintaining a high standard of workmanship and safety.
Responsibilities
- Install, service, repair, and maintain commercial, industrial, and residential overhead door systems
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and operational issues
- Install and service sectional doors, rolling steel doors, high-speed doors, dock equipment, operators, and access systems
- Perform preventative maintenance and safety inspections
- Complete service documentation and communicate findings to customers and office staff
- Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment
- Work safely in accordance with company policies and industry standards
- Participate in on-call and emergency service rotations as required
QualificationsRequired
- Previous experience as an overhead door technician
- Strong knowledge of commercial and industrial door systems
- Experience with commercial door operators and control systems
- Ability to diagnose and repair a wide variety of overhead door issues
- Valid Class G driver's licence with a clean driving record
- Ability to work at heights and lift heavy materials
- Strong communication and customer service skills
Preferred
- Experience with dock levelers, dock seals, and loading dock equipment
- Electrical troubleshooting experience
- Welding and fabrication experience
- Working at Heights certification
- Lift equipment and forklift certification
