The Ship is looking for reliable, calm-under-pressure, people-focused Door Security Staff to join our team. We’re a busy neighbourhood pub known for live music, footy matches, packed patios, and a diverse crowd. We’re looking for people who can help create a safe, welcoming environment while bringing positive energy and professionalism to the room.
This is a tipped position.
Responsibilities
- Checking IDs and monitoring capacity
- Managing lineups and entry flow
- Maintaining a safe and respectful environment for guests and staff
- Using strong de-escalation and communication skills to resolve situations professionally
- Monitoring intoxication levels and assisting with safe guest departures
- Handling difficult interactions calmly and appropriately
- Communicating with management and floor staff throughout service
- Supporting opening and closing procedures as needed
What We’re Looking For
- Previous security, door, hospitality, or customer service experience preferred
- Strong de-escalation, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to stay calm and professional in high-volume environments
- Good judgement and situational awareness
- Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented
- Comfortable working late nights, weekends, concerts, sports events, and holidays
- ProServe certification required (or willingness to obtain before starting)
