Mechanical Engineer, P.Eng. & Project Manager
EPro Consultants Ltd is seeking a licensed Mechanical Engineer and Project Manager with experience across various market sectors such as residential, commercial, retail, institutional, and tenant improvements to join our growing operations. This role combines technical mechanical engineering leadership with full project management responsibility for assigned projects.
The Mechanical Engineer will oversee design and development of technical drawings for internal and external clients and will manage assigned projects from proposal through close-out. Key activities include liaising with internal and external stakeholders, managing project scope, schedule, and budget, coordinating drafting deliverables, and developing and implementing procedures for the efficient delivery of technical drawings. The Mechanical Engineer will be taking professional responsibility of the design work.
The preferred candidate must be a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registered with EGBC in British Columbia, with registration in Alberta (APEGA) considered a strong asset, and should bring strong AutoCAD/Revit, team and organizational experience, excellent communication skills, and proven project management ability, including managing budgets, schedules, and client relationships.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Assist in the design of building-related mechanical systems including HVAC and Plumbing using applicable codes, standards, and reference materials.
· Provide guidance, prepare and review contract drawings, schematics, schedules, details, and sketches from conceptual design through to construction.
· Produce aspects of mechanical design and drawings in AutoCAD and REVIT.
· Facilitate and ensure the quality of the project deliverables.
· Act as Project Manager on assigned projects, managing scope, schedule, budget, and client communication from proposal through project close-out.
· Adhere to EPro’s design standards in preparing drawings and specifications and following the design requirements established for each project.
· Review shop drawings and other contractor submittals for compliance with construction documents.
· Perform regular field surveys during construction and prepare recorded drawings.
Required Qualifications:
· Minimum 5 years of experience as registered P.Eng with relevant experience in building design consulting.
· Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
· Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with EGBC in British Columbia is required; registration with APEGA in Alberta is preferred.
· Demonstrated project management experience, including managing budgets, schedules, and client relationships
· Ability to coordinate with multiple disciplines with minimal supervision.
· Solid understanding of building science, heat transfer, thermodynamics, and airflow fundamentals.
· Solid knowledge of NFPA, NECB, and ASHRAE standards, local building code and plumbing code.
· Operating knowledge of AutoCAD is required, Revit would be an asset.
· Working knowledge of cooling & heating load calculation programs such as HAP or Trace700 is required.
· Experience in energy modeling and load calculation programs such as EE4, ComCheck, HAP, HOT2000, eQuest, DesignBuilder, OpenStudio, EnergyPlus, and/or PHPP is an asset.
