Job Summary
Summit Rebar is a brand-new rebar startup built by industry people who know what it takes to run a shop properly: safe work, clean bundles, clear communication, and getting orders out on time. We’re growing fast and looking for a Rebar Machine Operator who’s proud of quality work and wants to help build something from the ground up.
We are seeking skilled Rebar Machine Operators to set up, operate, and maintain rebar cutting and bending equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have experience with manual bending and shearing machines and will be responsible for ensuring accurate and efficient production of rebar components to meet project specifications. This role requires strong mechanical knowledge and the ability to perform heavy lifting while maintaining safety standards. The position offers an opportunity to work on dynamic projects that contribute to building and restoration efforts across multiple sectors.

Responsibilities
- Operate rebar processing equipment (shearline, shear, bender, cutting saws—training provided where needed)
- Cut, bend and bundle rebar according to shop drawings and bar lists
- Measure fabricated dimensions accurately using a tape measure (lengths, bends, tolerances)
- Load and unload materials from processing machines safely and efficiently
- Move and stage material for fabrication or shipping (including overhead crane use; certification required prior to operating)
- Unload trailers and store materials in designated areas/bins (including overhead crane use; certification required prior to operating)
- Perform basic machine care (daily checks, minor adjustments) and report issues immediately
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and Ontario OHSA requirements
Qualifications
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced fabrication / manufacturing environment
- Basic math (addition, subtraction, simple fractions) and strong attention to detail
- Ability to read/interpret a tape measure in both imperial and metric system
- Strong work ethic: dependable, accountable, team-first
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and work in demanding environments for extended periods.
- Willing to work overtime when required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Able to read, write and understand English language

Nice-to-haves (assets, not required)
These are great to have, but we’ll consider strong candidates without them:
- Telehandler license
- Overhead crane experience
- Shunting / yard truck experience
- Previous experience with shearing and bending machines (2–3 years is a plus)
Working conditions
- Non-climate-controlled shop/yards—temperatures vary by season
- Continuous standing/walking typical of rebar work
- PPE required: hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and CSA safety boots

Pay: $19.00-$22.50 per hour
