Business Intelligence Developer
Pay Rate: $70.00/hour, depending on experience
Contract Length: 6 Months
Location: Vancouver, British Columbia
Raise is currently hiring a Business Intelligence Developer on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client, a partnership of 12 municipalities - one Electoral Area and one treaty First Nation. That collaboratively plans for and delivers regional-scale services with its core services being drinking water, wastewater treatment and solid waste management.
Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.
Description
The Business Intelligence Developer in this role will collaborate with the Water Services Team and the internal BI Project Team. In this role, you will be responsible for translating complex business requirements into robust technical specifications, building reusable data frameworks, and creating advanced Power BI visualizations.
This contract position offers a high degree of flexibility, with options for hybrid or fully virtual work depending on your location.
Responsibilities

Requirement Translation: Analyze and translate complex business requirements into clear technical specifications.

Data Architecture & Frameworks: Design and develop a reusable Data Analytics framework covering data ingestion, data warehousing, data lake ODS, pipelines, error handling, Azure cloud data gateways, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI security, and workspace management.

Data Modeling & Pipelines: Design data models based on technical specs and build end-to-end data pipelines and ETL packages.

Advanced Analytics: Explore and leverage advanced Power BI features requiring deep customization, specifically DataFlow and DataMart.

Visualization & Automation: Design and build interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI Desktop, implementing automated report scheduling and data source refresh configurations.

Troubleshooting & Support: Conduct day-to-day data source system analysis to identify transformation needs and troubleshoot data warehouse/pipeline issues as they arise.
Qualifications

Core Technical Experience
-
Proven experience designing and implementing on-premise Data Warehouse reusable frameworks, paired with a strong understanding of cloud design considerations for data storage and processing.

Extensive experience with data modeling, building end-to-end data pipelines, and developing ETL processes.

Microsoft Stack: Extensive analytic development experience with Power BI (including advanced Service configurations like DataFlow and DataMart) and preferably the broader Microsoft Power Platform.

Extensive development experience with SSIS, SQL Server, REST APIs, and OLAP cubes.

Methodologies: Thorough knowledge of modern software development methods, practices, and procedures.

Proven ability to work independently and perform assigned duties with minimal supervision while aligning with strategic direction.

Strong oral and written communication skills, with a track record of preparing clear technical design documentation and specifications.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal stakeholders and project team members.

Ability to provide sound advice and technical assistance on complex data matters.

Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding corporate data and processes.

Education and Certifications

Bachelor's in Computer Science or related field

Candidates in this role will be working a hybrid schedule of (3 days virtual, 2 days in-office) or fully remote capacity for candidates outside the Lower Mainland.
