Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Greenhouse Labourer to join our horticultural team. This role involves supporting the daily operations of our greenhouse, ensuring healthy plant growth, and maintaining optimal conditions for our plants. The ideal candidate will have a passion for gardening and horticulture, along with the physical ability to handle demanding tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Duties
- Assist with planting, watering, and caring for a variety of plants within the greenhouse
- Operate irrigation systems to ensure proper watering schedules and plant health
- Use hand tools and mechanical equipment for pruning, transplanting, and other maintenance tasks
- Monitor plant growth and health, identifying signs of pests or disease
- Perform heavy lifting of plants, soil bags, and equipment as needed
- Maintain cleanliness and organization within the greenhouse area
- Support with soil preparation, fertilization, and other horticultural activities
- Assist in setting up and maintaining environmental controls to optimize growing conditions
Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of horticulture and gardening practices preferred
- Experience with irrigation systems and mechanical tools is a plus
- Ability to operate hand tools safely and effectively
- Strong physical stamina for heavy lifting and standing for extended periods
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to planting and watering schedules
- Mechanical knowledge is advantageous for troubleshooting equipment issues
- Prior experience working in a greenhouse or similar environment is desirable but not required
- A proactive attitude with attention to detail and safety awareness
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
Pay: $17.20-$25.10 per hour
