Cleaning Team Member
Location: Duncan Garage Cafe & Bakery
Job Type: Part-Time, Permanent
Schedule: Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday
Hours: 4:00 PM – 9:30 PM
Summary
As a Cleaning Team Member at Duncan Garage Cafe & Bakery, you are responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and welcoming environment throughout our café, bakery, restaurant, and staff areas. Your work plays a vital role in ensuring our facility meets high standards of cleanliness, safety, and presentation for both customers and team members.
This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys working independently, and has a strong attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
Facility Cleaning
- Sweep and mop all floors throughout the café, bakery, restaurant, and staff areas.
- Dust shelves, ledges, fixtures, furniture, and other surfaces as required.
- Clean windows, mirrors, glass doors, and other glass surfaces.
- Spot clean walls, doors, baseboards, and high-touch surfaces.
- Ensure all customer-facing areas remain clean and presentable.
Washroom Cleaning
- Clean and sanitize all five customer and staff washrooms.
- Restock toilet paper, paper towels, hand soap, and other washroom supplies.
- Empty sanitary disposal containers as required.
- Maintain washrooms to a high standard of cleanliness and presentation.
Waste & Recycling Management
- Empty garbage, recycling, and compost bins throughout the building.
- Replace liners and ensure proper disposal of waste materials.
- Maintain cleanliness around waste disposal and recycling stations.
Cleaning & Sanitation
- Follow all cleaning procedures and sanitation standards.
- Safely use cleaning chemicals and equipment according to company policies.
- Report maintenance issues, safety concerns, or supply shortages to management.
- Maintain cleanliness of storage areas, hallways, staff rooms, and other support spaces.
Deep Cleaning & Special Projects
- Assist with scheduled deep-cleaning tasks, including shelving, equipment exteriors, and hard-to-reach areas.
- Support seasonal cleaning projects and facility maintenance initiatives.
- Assist with closing cleaning duties to prepare the facility for the following day.
Additional Duties
- Complete cleaning checklists and assigned tasks during each shift.
- Work independently while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.
- Perform other cleaning-related duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Cleaning experience preferred, training will be provided.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Good time management and organizational skills.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform repetitive cleaning tasks throughout the shift.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a positive attitude are essential.
