Salary:
$23.13 to $33.29 per hour ($42,096.60 to $60,587.80 per annum)

MINIMUM FORMAL EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's Degree in a health-related field is required; a Genetics or Biology Major is, including laboratory analysis techniques.
OR
- Completion of a Community College course in a related discipline with one years = directly-related experience.
OR
- High school completion with job-related options with a minimum of four years = directly-related experience.
EXPERIENCE:
- TCPS-Core and PHIA training preferred.
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to work collaboratively is required.
- Effective time management skills are required.
- Strong communication skills (both oral and written) are required.
- Commitment to evolving current knowledge in genetics through attending continuing education in-services and workshops is required.
- A satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required
OTHER JOB-RELATED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Background in genetics or biology is preferred.
- Experience working within a clinical or research environment is considered an asset.
- Assist the Genetic Counsellor and Project Manager in coordinating the PrairieGen research study.
- Assist in the maintenance of study materials including consent forms, data collection tools, and other project materials.
- Assist in on-going submissions for research ethics, institutional impact, privacy and data access.
- Attends regular team meetings to help coordinate and monitor project activities.
- Coordinate collection and transport of biological specimens (e.g., blood, DNA, tissue) in accordance with the protocol, institutional policy, and legislation.
- Collect data, enter it into various data capture tools (e.g., Excel, REDCap), and prepare basic summaries.
- Assist with literature review, and preparation of presentations and reports.
- Support tracking overall study progress.
- Maintain study files, collecting and maintaining essential documents as required.
- Adhere to patient safety and privacy protocols and policies.
- Collaborate closely with other research staff and university personnel.
- Attend relevant continuing education sessions to learn about the fields of genetics, metabolics, genome-wide sequencing and other testing methodologies, and precision medicine.
- May be required to perform related duties not exceeding skills and capabilities as required.
