Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Long Haul Driver to join our transportation team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely operating commercial vehicles over long distances, ensuring timely delivery of freight across various locations. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, excellent driving skills, and the ability to manage heavy equipment and freight handling. The Long Haul Driver plays a crucial role in maintaining our company's reputation for dependable service and operational efficiency.
Duties
- Operate commercial trucks and heavy equipment safely over long-distance routes, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Transport freight efficiently between designated locations, ensuring timely deliveries and pickups
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to identify maintenance needs or safety concerns
- Load and unload freight using forklifts or other heavy equipment as needed, following proper safety procedures
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, driver logs, and other required documentation
- Perform basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting when necessary to ensure vehicle operability
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, clients, and team members regarding delivery schedules and any issues encountered during transit
- Follow all safety protocols related to freight handling, heavy equipment operation, and driving regulations
Experience
- Proven experience as a commercial driver with a valid Class 1 license suitable for long-haul routes
- Experience operating forklifts and other heavy equipment preferred
- Knowledge of freight handling procedures and safety standards for transporting goods over long distances
- Basic automotive repair skills are a plus for troubleshooting vehicle issues on the road
- Prior experience with heavy equipment operation is desirable but not mandatory; training will be provided if necessary
- Strong understanding of traffic laws, safety regulations, and best practices for long-distance trucking
Requirements:
- Valid Class 1 License
- Clean Driver’s Abstract
- 3 months driving Class 1 experience
- Experience in Canada
