We are a well established landscaping company specializing in commercial projects across the Lower Mainland. We are looking for an experienced, independent Safety Coordinator/Safety Officer to support our team in maintaining compliant, safe and efficient work sites.
Position Overview:
The Safety Coordinator will work on an as-needed basis to develop, implement and monitor health and safety programs, provide site inspections and ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations. Ideal for an individual operating independently and looking to add a consistent client.
Responsibilities
- Conduct periodic safety inspections on active job sites
- Identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions
- Maintain safety documentation and ensure compliance with WorkSafe BC requirements
- Support incident investigations when required
- Provide guidance to supervisors and workers regarding safe work practices
- Review subcontractor safety documentation when applicable
- Hold Monthly JOHSC Committee meetings
- On site paperwork, create and complete safework practices, site specific fall protection plans
Requirements
- Minimum 2-3 years of safety experience (construction, landscaping, civil or related fields)
- Knowledge of WorkSafeBC regulations
- Ability to work independently and provide professional reporting
- Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle
- Current safety certifications (OFA Level 1 or higher, CSO/BCIT Safety Training etc) considered an asset
- Strong communication and organizational skills
