Construction Manager - Landscaping

About the Role
Swick's Landscaping is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead our landscape construction division throughout Metro Vancouver. This role combines project management, staff leadership, mentoring, and operational oversight.
The Construction Manager is responsible for overseeing multiple construction projects, supporting site supervisors and crew leaders, developing staff, managing shop operations, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, profitably, and to the highest standards of quality.
Key Responsibilities
Construction Operations
- Oversee multiple landscape construction projects from planning through completion
- Coordinate labour, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and schedules
- Monitor project budgets, productivity, quality control, and profitability
- Conduct regular site visits and support field supervisors with project challenges
- Work closely with clients, designers, suppliers, and consultants
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop construction supervisors, crew leads, and field staff
- Conduct employee performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, and career development
- Promote a positive, accountable, and safety-focused work environment
- Identify future leaders within the organization and support their growth
Shop & Fleet Oversight
- Provide leadership and direction to the shop team
- Coordinate equipment availability and maintenance requirements with the Shop Manager
- Assist with fleet planning, equipment procurement, and operational efficiency initiatives
- Ensure equipment and vehicles are properly maintained and available to support project schedules
Business Operations
- Participate in weekly planning and management meetings
- Assist with estimating, project forecasting, and resource planning
- Support continuous improvement of systems, processes, and company standards
- Work closely with ownership and operations leadership to achieve company goals
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of landscape construction experience
- Minimum 3 years in a leadership, supervisory, or project management role
- Strong knowledge of hardscape, softscape, drainage, irrigation, and landscape construction practices
- Proven ability to lead and develop teams
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Experience managing budgets, schedules, and multiple projects simultaneously
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence with a clean driving record
