Under the direction of the Manager of Environmental Services (MES) and/or Administrator, the Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and home-like environment for residents, staff, visitors, and volunteers. This role supports infection prevention and control standards, resident safety, and overall quality of life in accordance with ORCA and Retirement Homes Act (RHA) requirements.

Responsibilities
· Clean and sanitize resident suites, common areas, offices, and washrooms in accordance with established cleaning schedules and checklists
· Perform routine and deep cleaning duties, including vacated suite cleaning and preparation for incoming residents
· Follow infection prevention and control (IPAC) practices and proper chemical handling procedures
· Collect and dispose of waste and recyclables according to established procedures
· Monitor supplies, restock housekeeping carts and storage areas, and report inventory needs
· Identify and report safety hazards, maintenance issues, or equipment concerns to the MES/Administrator
· Adhere to WHMIS, Occupational Health & Safety, and organizational policies and procedures
· Perform other related duties as assigned within the scope of the Housekeeper role
Qualifications, Certification & Experience
Education & Certification
· Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
· Previous housekeeping experience preferred; experience in a Retirement Home or Long-Term Care setting is considered an asset
Certificates & Clearances
· Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (within 6 months of start date)
· TB screening required
· WHMIS training (or willingness to complete)

· Strong attention to detail and cleanliness standards
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team
· Effective communication and interpersonal skills
· Good organizational and time-management abilities
· Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
· Demonstrated understanding of resident-centered care and professionalism
· Bilingualism (English/French) is considered an asset
Physical Requirements
· Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift
· Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs
· Ability to work with cleaning equipment, carts, and supplies
· Tolerance for exposure to cleaning chemicals and warm environments
Pre-Employment Requirements
In accordance with the Retirement Homes Act and site policy, employment is conditional upon satisfactory completion of:
- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
- Required health clearances as per public health and site policy
- Proof of eligibility to work in Canada
