Located southwest of Edmonton and situated along the dramatic banks of the North Saskatchewan River, Blackhawk is widely considered one of Canada’s premier golf facilities. Created by Alberta’s own Rod Whitman, Blackhawk was among the first modern day, minimalist designs in the country, offering wide fairways, rugged bunkering and dynamic green sites.
The Blackhawk Turf Care department is seeking team-orientated full-time seasonal and part-time seasonal applicants with a strong attention to detail. This job position will safely perform a number of general golf course landscaping duties including, but not limited to; operation of ride-on and/or walking mowing equipment, use of hand tools and small engine equipment for detail work, assistance with watering/irrigation requirements, and preparation of bunkers for daily play. This season Blackhawk Golf Club is proud to host the PGA Tour of Americas' ATB Classic from September 14th to 20th.
We are hiring for the following positions:
- Full Time Seasonal: Mid-June to November 1st (36-44hrs / week)
- Full Time Summer Seasonal: Mid-June to September 7th
- Part Time Seasonal / Personal Schedule: Mid-June to November 1st (15 - 30hrs / week)
Responsibilities
- Mowing turf using power tools such as lawnmowers and trimmers
- Trimming shrubs, hedges, and trees with hand tools and power equipment
- Preparation of bunkers for daily play
- Performing landscape maintenance tasks including edging, pruning, and planting
- Assisting with irrigation system installation, repair, and maintenance
- Maintaining cleanliness of work areas and ensuring safety procedures are followed
- Assisting with general gardening duties such as planting flowers or shrubs
- Conducting routine equipment maintenance to ensure optimal performance
- Supporting team members in completing daily tasks efficiently and effectively
Skills
- Experience or familiarity with hand tools such as pruners, shovels, and rakes
- Knowledge of horticulture principles and landscape maintenance techniques
- Ability to operate power tools safely and effectively
- Strong work ethic with attention to detail in maintaining outdoor spaces
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team
- Willingness to learn new skills related to landscaping and outdoor maintenance
