Care Counsellor Opportunities – Children’s & Adult Programs
The Ottawa Rotary Home is a non-profit organization providing respite services for children, youth, and adults with physical disabilities and complex needs. Our work focuses on dignity, inclusion, and person-centered support in a safe and welcoming environment.
We are currently hiring Contract Care Counsellor :
6 month FT contract
- Nights only
- 2000-0800 (12 hour shifts)
- Weekend shifts are high demand
About the Role
Respite Counsellors provide direct, hands-on support within our respite programs, assisting individuals with activities of daily living, personal care, and meaningful engagement.
This is a rewarding, highly interactive position where you will build strong relationships with the individuals you support while gaining valuable professional experience. The role is well suited to individuals who are compassionate, reliable, and comfortable in an active, hands-on environment.
What You Will Do
- Provide hands-on personal and physical support
- Assist with activities of daily living and routines
- Support mobility, comfort, and positioning
- Encourage participation in recreational and social activities
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive environment
- Complete required documentation and communication
- Work collaboratively with team members and supervisors
Who Should Apply
We welcome applicants with backgrounds or education in:
- Developmental Services Worker (DSW)
- Personal Support Worker (PSW)
- Child and Youth Worker (CYW)
- Early Childhood Educator (ECE)
- Health or social service programs
- Related care or support experience
Experience supporting individuals with disabilities or complex needs is an asset but not required. Paid training and orientation are provided.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Relevant education or equivalent experience
- Ability to provide physical and personal support
- Current First Aid & CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check
- Ability to work the schedule associated with the chosen position
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Pay: $24.28-$26.83 per hour
