Summary
The Harvest Safety Coordinator’s main role is to assist the agriculture department to ensure that safe work practices are being followed and maintained during Lantic’s sugar beet harvest throughout its seven different piling ground locations. This role is responsible for providing safety leadership and guidance with safety training, orientation, site inspections, as well as incident and injury management.
We are looking for someone who will:
- Monitor daily activities on piling grounds to ensure employees, contractors and truck drivers are working in compliance within Lantic safe work standards;
- Document daily safety observations and peer to peer observations;
- Provide coaching and mentoring to enhance safety culture;
- Perform onsite inspections and communicate any corrective actions;
- Lead and/or assist with incident reporting, investigations, and root cause analysis;
- Assist with transportation of injured workers from receiving stations to medical care centre (as required);
- Present new employee safety orientation and complete onsite training;
- Distribute PPE to new employees and to receiving station supervision;
- Identify hazardous work conditions and work with onsite supervision to remove and/or correct hazards;
- Input all data findings to online safety management software;
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times on grounds;
- Outdoor conditions can be hot, humid, dusty, dry, wet, cold, loud, snowing, and etc.;
- Frequent walking, bending, climbing, standing, sitting, and reaching required in the above-mentioned working conditions.
What you'll need to join the team:
- Completion of relevant post-secondary education preferred;
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or other designations are an asset;
- High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information;
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills;
- Strong sense of accountability;
- Ability to engage people according to the company’s mission/values;
- Detail oriented;
- 3-5 years of related experience preferred;
- Solid knowledge of related Occupational Health and Safety Acts;
- Intermediate computer knowledge of MS Office software and database systems
Other Requirements
- Class 5 drivers license;
- Acceptable drivers abstract;
- Driving of company vehicle;
- Allowance for personal cell phone provided
