About Petite Luminaries Montessori
Petite Luminaries Montessori is a child-centered learning environment inspired by Maria Montessori's philosophy of fostering independence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning. We are seeking an enthusiastic and engaging French Language Teacher to introduce children to the French language through songs, stories, movement, games, and everyday conversation.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young children and can make language learning fun, interactive, and developmentally appropriate.
Job Overview
The French Teacher will visit classrooms throughout the week and provide age-appropriate French language exposure to children through engaging activities and experiences.
The focus is on introducing children to:
- Greetings and basic conversational phrases
- Days of the week
- Months and seasons
- Colors, numbers, shapes, and vocabulary
- French songs, rhymes, and stories
- Cultural celebrations and traditions
The successful candidate will also support the planning and preparation of special events and performances throughout the year.
Responsibilities: French Language Programming
- Teach French vocabulary and conversational phrases
- Introduce children to the days of the week, months, seasons, colors, numbers, and common classroom language
- Lead French songs, music, movement activities, and storytelling sessions
- Create engaging, hands-on activities that support language acquisition
- Foster a positive and enjoyable learning environment
Special Events & Performances
- Spring Concert
- Christmas Concert
- Summer Camp programming
- Other special events and celebrations throughout the year
- Teach songs and performances in French where appropriate
Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with classroom educators and management
- Support the integration of French language experiences into the children's daily routines
- Maintain positive relationships with children, families, and staff
Qualifications
- Fluency in French (spoken and written)
- Experience working with young children in a childcare, Montessori, school, or educational setting
- Strong understanding of child development and age-appropriate teaching practices
- Ability to engage children through music, movement, storytelling, and play-based learning
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Montessori experience is considered an asset
- Current Vulnerable Sector Check
- CPR/First Aid certification is an asset
