Position Overview
Ortona Gymnastics Club is seeking a Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) Xcel Coach to lead two competitive Xcel groups for the 2026/2027 season.
This is a part-time coaching position (12 to 16 hours per week).
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coach two Xcel competitive groups
- Plan and deliver structured training sessions aligned with Gymnastics Canada and Alberta Gymnastics Federation guidelines
- Support athlete development across skill progression, strength, and performance
- Provide clear technical instruction and constructive feedback
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive training environment
- Collaborate with the coaching team to ensure consistency in athlete pathways
- Attend competitions and club events as required
- Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and staff
Qualifications & Requirements
- NCCP C1 Certified (preferred), or C1 Trained with commitment to complete certification
- Experience coaching artistic gymnastics, ideally within Xcel or developmental/competitive programs
- Strong understanding of athlete progression and safe training practices
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned groups
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Current First Aid/CPR certification
- Respect in Sport and Making Ethical Decisions certifications (or willingness to obtain)
Work Schedule
- Starting date June 2026
- Approximately 12 to 16 hours per week
- 2 to 4 training days per week
- Weekend availability is an asset.
Compensation
- $20.00 to $25.00 per hour
- Compensation will be based on experience, certification level, and demonstrated coaching ability
